[SBN] NBC's horrific programming decisions save nation from American Idol scourge (for, like, a night)

So NBC's smash hit strategy of shoehorning an entire day of Olympic competition into a single evening of primetime clip shows has paid off -- in the form of an unheard-of ratings victory over American Idol Wednesday night.

It's bad news for anyone still holding out hope the beleagured network would change its tape-delayin' ways -- where they've been primly reticent in dealing with unhappy fan sentiment, Peacock brass are sure to crow about this, but it's undeniably a huge win for the network, and a long, long time coming.

[SBN] If only 'Archery On Ice' were a thing ...

NBC's Olympic Pulse blog is asking its readers which Winter Olympics sport is the most dangerous. This is a silly question, because the Winter Olympic Games encompasses the sport of ski jumping, and better still, nordic combined, wherein one is expected to survive ski jumping and race cross-country afterwards. Any other sport, no matter how speedy, still involves some form of regular contact with the ground and at least the occasional opportunity to stop yourself hurtling away from it.

Speaking of Bode Miller, he's being talked up for a U.S. Open bid ... in tennis. But before you get too worked up, please note that he's been playing pretty much his whole life, so this isn't just some kind of drunk Bode antic. (Until he shows up at the court drunk, which will be wonderful television.)
